Do you think that getting a great experience with trekking you need to visit foreign lands?
Well, there’s many a place outside that does have amazing treks, but, that does not mean good old America does not have some fantastic places where you can be a nomad at. One of the areas that I particularly love is Breckenridge for its ingenuity and the whole level of experience.
With Breckenridge vacation rentals being cheaper every year, this is one experience that you would not want to miss.
So, if you wish to walk across the roads and go to a Breckenridge, Colorado is one of the places that must be on your list. So, how to live the nomad’s life in Breckenridge? Here are a few pointers
1. Go on the Walking History Tour
Breckenridge was the epicenter of the search for gold in the old days. People would find love and loss through their quest for gold at the banks of these rivers and near these mountains.
Interested in finding out more about the history, take a walking tour through the city, and find your own story to tell.
The thousands of stories that this place holds are something of an adventure in itself. You would find nomads just like you who came by the road with the hopes for finding some fortune. Look for the luck by the store district, and collect stories to tell back home.
2. Try Dog Sledding
One of my most vivid memories of childhood remained when I looked at the stories of dogs taking their owners through huge snowfalls. Well, in Breckenridge you can find many experiences of dog sledding. So, get yourself on a dog sled and be a real explorer and you navigate the harsh snowfalls. It does not get more nomadic than that.
There are several trails to be followed throughout the place, so you do not have to worry about the lack of variety.
3. Go on a sleigh ride
Going through the snow on a dark evening as you hold your hands close over a hot cup of cocoa is a dream come true for any person. With the tens of trailing roads throughout the place, you will have nothing to worry about. Most places in Breckenridge offer this absolute wonder of a ride through the snow without any major hiccups.
Pack a lot of food, and cocoa for your trip since, it does get a lot colder than you imagine on first sight. However, I think that it is one of the quintessential experiences to have here.
4. Walk through the snow
Wear your heavy clothes and walk through the centers of Breckenridge. The 7-mile long stretch is decorated with 76 bars and restaurants, and you can find yourself with more stories than you started out with. Try out the local cuisine and walk into the warm embrace of the famous Colorado hospitality. You will never feel alone in this place.
Remember to be courteous and smile, and you would get enough stories for a long while. The Oxygen bar comes highly recommended.
5. Find the history in the Gold Mines
As I pointed out, the people in Colorado came out to find out their fortune. The gold mines still offer some of the fascinating sights to this day. Remember to capture some stories as you make your way through these mines that have been home to many an adventure before.
Remember to go during the summers for one of these tours since the mines close down during the winter because they become difficult to navigate.
6. Oktoberfest
If you have been stressing about the Germany plans which you do not have the money for, then Breckenridge Nordic centers would be your respite. It holds their version of the famous Oktoberfest. Get merry, sing a thousand folk songs and find yourself amidst fellow travelers who would not hesitate to make you into a friend.
Don’t worry about the costs; it would amount to much less than a foreign trip would, and would be twice as much fun!
7. Go for Kayaking
Kayaking is one of those experiences that you cannot afford to miss. Several trip programmes offer a kayaking tour through the white waters by the mountains. See the beautiful sights of the hills as you make your adventure through the white waters while rafting. The adventure is unparalleled.
8. Get on the highest chairlift
The Chair Lift at Breckenridge when you go for skiing is the highest chairlift in all of North America. Want to explore great heights and try going down a mountain by skiing, hit up this place. There would be a lot to get through as you ski down the hills. Your adventure would be something that you would love.
9. Get yourself to Sawmill Reservoir
One of the most scenic trails around the small place that is Breckenridge is also the only way to get to the beautiful lake of Sawmill Reservoir. The Sawmill Reservoir is one of the lakes that would make you hold your breath because of its beauty. The trail leads up from the space of the Snowflake lift and walks through one of the dense forests in the region.
It is not one of the most challenging treks to have in the area, but, the easy trail during the winter days makes it so much more interesting.
So, get yourself off to Breckenridge and have yourself some time alone with yourself as you go on a discovery tour of America’s gold-seeking past, and the beautiful treks that come in between.
