The Caribbean doesn’t require anyone to wax lyrical about it. It’s a stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters, sitting pleasantly in the warm sun, packed full to the brim with seaside activities, luxurious resorts and many other great possibilities.
Barbados has plenty of sun, sea and surf and is one of the most renowned islands in the Caribbean. It’s a popular tourist destination, for obvious reasons, and always provides plenty of value for money. One of its more glorious attractions is its abundance of perfect beaches, most beautifully displayed by the renowned Crane Beach. Crane Beach sits outside the Crane Hotel on the southeast side of the island and features strong and weak waves, great for surfing or for slight waddling near the shore. It’s labelled as an ideal location for family picnics as well.
Further down on the southern coast, Miami Beach lives up to its name, offering everything, from seats to umbrellas, snacks, drinks and surfboards. Surfing is a great activity in the area and areas such as Freights Bay and South Point exhibit this with some great waves. The stalls set up around the beach are incredibly diverse, offering a much more cultural experience.
For those seeking more activities, Silver Rock Beach may be perfect for you. It’s a popular area for windsurfing and, in particular, kite-surfing. The comfortable hotel deck and large sand banks can be quite comforting and great for families to sit around, chomping on picnics whilst watching others kite-surf. On the other side of the spectrum, those seeking something more relaxing, more reclusive, may wish to travel to Bottom Bay. The beach here is surrounded by an attractive canopy of coconut and palm trees. The bay sits at the bottom of a cliff and is very secluded. The coconut trees give the impression of a far-off tropical island, an aspect which may appeal to many.
