When it comes to a vacation destination with something for everyone, the Sunshine Coast of Australia is second to none. Visitors can partake in a variety of exciting and breathtaking options for relaxation or adventure.
Below are just a few of the many options for a tourist to experience on the Sunshine Coast.
Maleny
The small, scenic town of Maleney in Queensland is a perfect vacation destination for those in the know. Boasting a plethora of art galleries and specialty shops for the souvenir hunter, Maleney is also quite well known for its wildlife. The locals actually protested the building of a Woolworth’s store because it would have destroyed a platypus habitat.
Tourists who are looking for a holistic vacation may partake in Maleney’s award winning Crystal Waters Permaculture Village intentional community. Baroon Pocket Dam is another serene vacation spot that many people are discovering as a relatively inexpensive, relaxing option.
Montville
The small town getaway is known for its scenic walking and hiking trails, including the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. Many tourists also come to Montville for the exquisite eateries and wineries located there.
Montville is becoming quite the location for marriages because of its quiet and secluded natural environment. The local government seems to encourage these types of events by providing inexpensive yet gorgeous accommodations, eateries and activities including boating, picnicking and fishing spots.
Mapleton
Mapleton is perhaps best known for its panoramic views of the entire Sunshine Coast. It also boasts arguably the most famous and well known tavern in the Sunshine Coast, the Mapleton Tavern. Tourists come there for a taste of local beers and spirits that cannot be found anywhere else.
Mapleton is along the Blackall Range tourist drive, which serves as the ground zero for many tourists who are looking to take in a “sampler platter” of what the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Obi Road and Post Office Road contain world famous and locally renowned fish and chip shops, bakeries and pizza places. The Katie Rose clothing shop is a well-known stop for people who want to indulge in the local fashions without paying retail prices. Many tourists also indulge in one of the many massage services that are available on the strip.
Kenilworth
Dairy farming is the local economic driver in Kenilworth and the local attractions definitely follow along those lines. Visitors to this part of the Sunshine Coast can find themselves enthralled with the cheese factory that serves as a large portion of the local economy, along with having some of the most internationally-recognised cheeses in the world.
Visitors can indulge in the Living History Museum to learn exactly how Kenilworth became the dairy farming capitol of Australia. There are also many walking trails in the Kenilworth State Forest as well as four wheel driving ranges. Campers have their own sectioned off portion of the state forest for cooking and games. Lastly, the art galleries are home to some of the most interesting local pieces within the Sunshine Coast. Many artists from Kenilworth actually make quite a good living selling their work to visitors from other parts of the world.

Yandina
Yandina is one of the largest cities in the Sunshine Coast with a local population of just over 9,000 people. The town is best known for the production of the world’s finest ginger, hands down. Curious tourists may visit the Buderim Ginger Factory to learn exactly how this process is undertaken.
The town has recently expanded its business to include macadamias along with pastry products that have become renowned across the world. Tourists often come to Yandina to eat before heading off to one of the more active parts of the Sunshine Coast for late night adventures.
There is no better way to experience the Sunshine Coast than with the in luxury, and while you could wait for the bus and get to where you’re going eventually, luxury car hire on the Sunshine Coast will get you there in comfort and more importantly – by your own clock!
