There has been a stigma attached to cosmetic surgery for many years which I have to be honest, I used to believe too. The idea of body alteration is not something that appeals to many and for years the practice of cosmetic treatment was seen as dangerous because of some of the horror stories which came out after treatments went wrong. The flip side is that there are millions of treatments each year which go off without a hitch.
I went for some laser liposuction last year at the Sono Bello clinic and it changed my mind completely about the idea of cosmetic treatments. Here is what I’ve learned and why I no longer think that cosmetic surgery is a bad idea.
It Really Helps
There are some people who opt to have their body augmented for the wrong reasons in my opinion, perhaps to look like their favorite celebrity or keep up with the latest fashion trends. There are also however thousands of people each year for who cosmetic surgery transforms their life. For many people with body image issues, they can gain great confidence and overcome depression about their body with some augmentation, how the gift of confidence can ever be a bad thing is simply beyond me.
It Heals
Many people who have suffered burns or large wounds to their body rely on cosmetic or plastic surgery in order to improve the aesthetics of their body after an injury. Without these treatments, victims could suffer for more physical and mental pain and these surgeries have helped millions to fix their bodies and allow them to continue through life a far more confident person.
It Isn’t Extortionate
Prices of cosmetic surgery have come down dramatically in the last decade thanks in part to the wide availability of surgeons. It is a little like chicken and egg I guess but there is more accessibility to surgery thanks to the popularity of cosmetic treatments and as with anything regarding supply and demand, the price has come down. This means that far more people can afford to have treatments on their bodies without falling into piles of debt, for many who wish to change, this is a great benefit.
Helps Mental Health Issues
The mental effects of a physical overhaul have been scientifically proven to act as an anti-depressant thanks the confidence and belief which augmentation of the body can bring. The idea that altering or treating a part of your body can help you to overcome depression and anxiety is incredible and whilst many may go under the knife for narcissistic reasons, those who opt for a cosmetic surgery who are suffering with a mental health disorder can benefit greatly from a simple procedure.
Cosmetic surgery and treatment may still have a long way to go before it is thoroughly respecting but whilst this transformation of appearance is taking place, there are hundreds of thousands of men and women who are improving their lives thanks to the cosmetic clinics around the World.
